Story behind the dish

Linzer cookies come from the Linzer cake from the Austrian city of Linz, documented since 1653 as the oldest cake in the world. Their red jam window makes them a Central European Christmas icon. They are elegant cookies from Viennese cafes and Advent markets.

Linzer cookies are an Austrian preparation with medium difficulty. Reserve about 47 minutes in total (35 for mise en place and preparation, 12 for cooking). Follow the 6 phases in order: each step indicates what to do, what to observe and, when applicable, the time or level of fire.
