Story behind the dish

Dorayaki is a classic Japanese dessert consisting of two fluffy pancakes filled with anko, sweet red bean paste. According to legend, it was invented by a samurai who forgot his gong (dora) in the house of a peasant who cooked these discs. It is the favorite sweet of the character Doraemon and a treasure of traditional wagashi.
